Taking a Gap Year in 2023

A gap year is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with past hobbies, which may have become low priority during VCE/IB, and also try new activities. For example, learning a musical instrument, creating art or playing a sport. Learning a new language is a productive and enjoyable way to spend time while planning and saving for overseas travel during your gap year or in the future.

A practical option is to spend the year working, volunteering or undertaking an internship in order to gain experience, skills and meaningful professional relationships. You could consider undertaking an activity in an area that interests you in order to boost your professional resume. For example, you could also take a short course, such as a Barista course, to learn useful skills before applying for a cafe position.

Overseas travel is a great way to spend your gap year but there is also plenty to explore in Australia. Read more about holidaying in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia, Tasmania. Here are some useful tips on choosing a skill to learn.
